Welcome to MTE 1400 C Marine Electricity, a blended internet- based course. Alvaro Lopez will be your professor.Prof Lopez have been teaching at Broward College for over 3 years in the area of Marine Engineering Program.
- Mandatory Orientation This is a blended class that meets 4 days a week. Complete a mandatory online orientation between consisting of posting an introductory discussion, an assignment and a quiz based on the syllabus. If the orientation is not complete in three days midnight please drop the class for full refund by the end of drop/add.
- Faculty Introduction Professor Lopez has been teaching at Broward College for three years in the Marine Technology area. Our greatest wish is that at the end of this program our students think and act like engineers.
- Course Description Basic electrical theory for both AC and DC circuits in marine systems. Application of electrical theory to the generating, starting and auxiliary circuits of the marine engine. Emphasis on theory of operation and repair of equipment in the field with special attention to marine problems in salt-water environment.
- Methods of Instruction This course meets 4 days per week in class and is replaced by online activities. Each week the student completes a module. Each module equals 10 hours of on-line class and five hours of practice in the workshop (At Miramar Marine Center of excellence)
- Learning Outcomes
- Module 2: The student shall have an understanding of electrical tools, equipment and their uses.
- Module 3: The student shall identify circuit layout and wire diagrams
- Module 4: The student shall identify and repair battery ignition systems
